Jeff Chua
CRNP, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
With over 15 years of experience working in psychiatry, Jeff brings a wealth of clinical knowledge, compassion, and authenticity to his work. He has devoted much of his career to serving Veterans through his work at the VA, where he is known for his exceptional bedside manner, calm presence, and genuine ability to connect with others. Patients consistently describe Jeff as approachable, thoughtful, and deeply invested in making his clients feel understood and supported.
Jeff’s approach to care is rooted in looking at the whole person. He believes that optimal mental health comes from understanding the full picture: ruling out medical, genetic, and environmental factors that may contribute to psychiatric symptoms. He integrates conventional psychiatric medication management with functional and integrative strategies, the use of low-dose naltrexone (LDN), leucovorin, and pharmacogenomic (genetic) testing and lab testing to personalize treatment plans.
Jeff also has specialized training in TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), and esketamine therapy for treatment-resistant depression. His clinical interests include psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and major depressive disorder, and he is passionate about helping patients who have not found relief through traditional routes of care.
Jeff completed extensive training directly under Joseph R. Gagnon Jr., CRNP, PMHNP-BC, owner and CEO of Psychiatric Edge. Joe was so impressed with Jeff’s clinical instincts, warmth, and dedication that he immediately invited him to join the practice upon completion of his training. Joe describes Jeff as “hands down, the strongest student I have ever had the pleasure of training — he is a natural who was meant to work in this role. He genuinely cares and consistently goes above and beyond for his patients.”
At his core, Jeff is guided by a simple philosophy: treat every person the way you would want to be treated — with kindness, respect, and genuine precise care. His empathy, clinical excellence, and integrative approach make him a standout provider and a tremendous asset to the Psychiatric Edge team.
